Couldn't find the pictures of the first semester models. 3: Anyway, they looked something like that.
A: Andrew lounging. B: Monochrome study of Lynn, whom Prof. Rackley had dressed up as a cat. C: Arm/ Chest study. D: Mody/ Muscle/ Frame study.
(I can't remember the names of the second semester models, so we'll call them Model 1 and Model 2. ><; )
E: Profile of Model 1 F: Headlight -Model 1's face was blocked by a light. So I incorporated it. G: Model 1 lounging. Yay failed foreshortening! H: Completely mellow croc hunter. 3/4 view of Model 1. And I gave him an alligator. I: Face shading/ lighting study of Model 2. J: 3/4 view of Model 2 wearing a sun hat. Minus the hat. :/ K: Lounging profile of Model 2.
For me, Figure Drawing was all about learning. All pieces were done as STUDIES, not with the intent of producing wonderful complete works. (Though I wish my professor could have seen eye-to-eye on that strategy...I guarantee you that I learned and retained %100 more ability in using this class as an intensive study class than if I had made my goal to make these look polished..)
----------------------------------------------------------------------- Well this is a little late, but I am nothing if not a procrastinator.
A big THANK YOU to *Parchmentheron for convincing me to take Human Figure Drawing.
This is a compilation of my best from both semesters. Before the first semester I knew NOTHING of human anatomy. I am an animal person (obviously) and have just never had much inspiration for drawing humans. However as part of the trade I plan to go into (and really -any- trade involving illustration), I knew that it was absolutely imperative that I gained a good foundational understanding of the human figure. And moreover, I also understood that I needed to learn the human anatomy in order to better my own style.
..which frankly I thought was next to impossible. I'd never been able to draw humans. Especially realistic humans. (eeewww...><; )
Let me tell you, for the first good three or four months of that damned class I walked out every night feeling like SHIT. Anatomy is so frustrating to learn, and when you're sitting in a class full of people who've been doing it for 30+ years, it can outright make you want to throw your hands in the air and give up. But that was because I was learning.
Come the second semester, I nearly shat myself when I figured out what I could do when I applied everything I'd learned in the first.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
